The BodyWorks Geriatric Program
Manual therapy techniques to increase mobility, restore independence and improve daily living.
Functional strengthening consists of exercises to help re-train you for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) in a safe and comfortable manner.
Some examples are: practicing positional transfers (sit to stand etc) and simulated dressing and bathing activities.
- Gait & Assistive Device Training
We analyze your gait (walking pattern) from heel strike to push-off and use this to re-educate you on the proper pattern. Whether it has been thrown off from a recent injury, operation or just habit it is important to walk correctly to minimize excessive forces through the joints. We also educate patients on how to properly use assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs.
Another important aspect of gait is balance. We practice a number of exercises aimed at improving overall balance.
- Joint Protective Education
We teach our patients methods to reduce the amount of compressive forces on their joint to aide in pain relief.
We educate patients on the causes, biomechanics, and symptom management.
Range of Motion and Strength exercises are important for both diagnoses.
- Orthopedic & Neurologic Rehabilitation
Whether you are post-op or have developed a neurological problem will with provode individualized care aimed at your specific impairments.
